We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Behavioral Health Supervisor (Recovery Support Supervisor) to provide leadership, oversight, and support for our Recovery Support Services team. Position Summary The Behavioral Health Supervisor (Recovery Support Supervisor) provides direct supervision and leadership to Recovery Support Specialists (RSS), Behavioral Health Technicians (BHT), and other designated support staff. This role is responsible for ensuring safe and effective program operations, maintaining treatment structure, supporting client engagement, and fostering a culture of accountability and recovery. The Behavioral Health Supervisor serves as a key member of the multidisciplinary treatment team and works collaboratively with nursing, clinical, and operational leadership to ensure high-quality care and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Behavioral Health, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field; OR Minimum of two (2) years of experience in substance use disorder treatment, behavioral health, healthcare, or residential treatment settings.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of supervisor experience leading a team.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced treatment environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in substance use disorder treatment or recovery services.
  • Experience in residential treatment, detoxification, or behavioral health settings.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and recovery-oriented systems of care.
  • Experience with 12-Step programming and co-occurring disorders treatment.
  • Certification as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist, CPRS, CPRSS, or similar credential preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and leadership to Recovery Support Specialists (RSS), Behavioral Health Technicians (BHT), and designated support staff.
  • Conduct regular supervision meetings and performance coaching.
  • Assist with recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, orientation, and training of new staff.
  • Develop and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate program coverage.
  • Monitor staff performance and provide timely feedback, coaching, and corrective action when necessary.
  • Ensure all required training, certifications, and competencies are completed within required timeframes.
  • Support development and implementation of program workflows, procedures, and operational best practices.
  • Partner with nursing, clinical, and operational leadership to support daily treatment programming.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of program schedules, routines, and expectations.
  • Monitor unit operations and address operational issues in real time.
  • Participate in leadership meetings, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as an escalation point for client concerns, staff issues, and program-related challenges.
  • Support compliance with Joint Commission standards, state licensing requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Assist with client orientation and integration into the treatment program.
  • Facilitate educational, psychoeducational, and recovery-focused groups as assigned.
  • Ensure completion and documentation of urine drug screens, searches, observations, and other client monitoring activities.
  • Support recreational, wellness, and recovery-oriented programming.
  • Assist with transportation of clients to approved appointments, meetings, and activities.
  • Monitor client activities and ensure adherence to program expectations and safety requirements.
  • Utilize de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention skills during behavioral or emotional emergencies.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, weights, and other basic client monitoring activities as permitted by policy.
  • Collaborate with nursing and clinical teams regarding client concerns, observations, and treatment recommendations.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and professional documentation by all direct reports.
  • Review incident reports, shift reports, and client documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, Joint Commission standards, and state regulations.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and quality assurance activities.
  • Maintain required certifications and training.
