The Department of Buildings and General Services (BGS) is seeking a Buildings Project Manager for its Design and Construction Division. The position manages all phases of building construction projects of varying size and complexity, including repairs, renovations, and new construction. Responsibilities span project inception, legislative committee testimony, hiring and oversight of outside engineering and architecture consultants, bidding, construction oversight, stakeholder communication, and coordination with building tenants. The role also assists the Operations and Maintenance Division with smaller projects, which may include in-house design, and supports the Design and Construction Program Chief with technical reviews, vendor evaluations, design guidelines, standard specifications, and procedures. The ideal candidate has experience in construction project management, capital improvement, maintenance, design, and/or construction oversight, and can work independently, organize effectively, and prioritize a varied workload. Candidates with construction project experience who want to focus on construction project management will be considered. Work is primarily in an office, with regular visits to project sites, including operationally challenging facilities such as psychiatric care and correctional facilities, and forensic and health laboratories. The division permits telework from a productive home office up to two days per week after one year of satisfactory service. Duties may take place in office and field settings, require attendance and occasional public speaking at public meetings, and involve travel using privately available transportation. Schedules may vary from a standard daily or weekly schedule; exposure to adverse climate conditions and adversarial opinions is predictable.
