About The Position

Beverage Stewards deliver Snake Oil's beverage service on the event floor. This role handles passed and tray service, wine and sparkling service, and station support at private events, brand activations, and venue programs. Beverage Stewards spend the majority of the event in front of guests. The role requires polish, attentiveness, and the ability to read a room - keeping glasses full, service seamless, and the floor clean without ever interrupting the guest experience.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in hospitality, catering, event staffing, restaurant service, or banquet service preferred
  • Experience working events, banquets, or catering service strongly preferred
  • Comfort with tray service and front-of-house guest interaction
  • Familiarity with wine service or cocktail programs helpful but not required
  • Ability to follow operational instructions and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification required prior to first shift
  • California Food Handler Card required prior to first shift
  • Ability to complete any additional training required for event service roles
  • Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods during events
  • Ability to carry loaded service trays for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform physical event setup tasks
  • Ability to work in active event environments, including indoor and outdoor venues
  • All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Proof of authorization will be required upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Execute passed and tray service of cocktails, wine, sparkling wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages
  • Pour and present wine and sparkling wine to Snake Oil service standards, including opening bottles table side where required
  • Maintain assigned service stations, including stocking, replenishment, and presentation
  • Support bar staff with drink runs, tray staging, and station replenishment during peak service
  • Clear empty glassware and service items from the event floor throughout the event
  • Review event details, service instructions, and BEOs in the Nowsta scheduling platform
  • Arrive prepared and in proper uniform in accordance with company standards
  • Assist with setup of service stations, glassware preparation, and event floor preparation
  • Follow event diagrams, setup instructions, and direction from Event Managers or Bar Managers
  • Ensure all glassware, trays, and service materials are clean and event ready
  • Provide professional, courteous, and attentive service to guests throughout the event
  • Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly to service requests
  • Maintain a positive and respectful demeanor with guests, clients, vendors, and fellow staff
  • Practice responsible alcohol service and comply with all applicable state and local laws, including refusal of service when required
  • Communicate clearly with Event Managers and fellow staff members throughout event execution
  • Adapt to changes in event timing, service needs, or guest requests
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of service areas during events
  • Support overall event flow and operational efficiency
  • Assist with breakdown of service stations and event equipment
  • Clean, pack, and properly store glassware, materials, and equipment
  • Assist with restoring event spaces according to venue standards
