About The Position

Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar is seeking a sharp, driven, and hospitality-focused professional to join their team as a Beverage & Bar Lead. This leadership role is central to the bar's operations, focusing on liquid offerings and the overall guest experience. The ideal candidate will work closely with the General Manager and Chef, taking ownership of bar execution, energy, standards, and the continuous evolution of the beverage program. This position is designed for someone who wants to actively manage a bar, develop a beverage program, and advance into significant leadership responsibilities. It is not suitable for individuals solely looking to serve drinks but is ideal for those eager to own, build, and grow rapidly within the organization.

Requirements

  • Strong bartending skills with a readiness to own the bar.

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, make fast decisions, and be consistently present.

  • Full-time hourly leadership role (40 hours/week).
  • Estimated total compensation: $70,000–$75,000 (hourly + tip share).

  • Potential to advance to AGM, GM, or executive leadership within BRF.

Responsibilities

  • Run bar operations every shift, focusing on speed, quality, and communication.
  • Control ticket flow, drink timing, and bartender coordination in real time.
  • Ensure the standard of every drink served from the bar.
  • Collaborate with the floor and kitchen teams to maintain efficient and proactive service.
  • Address guest issues immediately and effectively.
  • Develop, test, and roll out new cocktails and beverage menus.
  • Assist in launching new beverage programs using the BRF Critical Path Process.
  • Maintain recipe integrity, specifications, and presentation standards.
  • Contribute creative ideas to evolve the beverage program.
  • Own bartender training and development for new hires and existing staff.
  • Lead beverage education sessions covering product knowledge, techniques, and guest interaction.
  • Provide real-time coaching to the bar team.
  • Manage inventory, ordering, and receiving of all beverage products.
  • Ensure the bar is consistently clean, stocked, prepped, and ready for service.
  • Oversee opening, shift change, and closing procedures at a high level.
  • Adjust staffing and positioning based on volume and labor forecast modeling.
  • Identify and address breakdowns in speed, communication, or quality.
  • Propose and implement solutions to improve operations.
  • Maintain effective communication with the leadership team using established systems.
  • Ensure follow-through on all tasks and initiatives.
  • Work five shifts per week, including opening, closing, and leading from the front.
