About The Position

Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota (LSS) is dedicated to meeting the evolving needs of communities across the state. Our mission: Inspired by God's love, we care for, support, and strengthen individuals, families, and communities. Each year, LSS impacts the lives of South Dakotans over 27,000 times through a diverse range of programs and services. The LSS Better Together Program pairs volunteers with older adults aged 60+ to foster community connections and build trusting relationships. This role will act as the primary coordinator for the program.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred, plus one to two years' experience in related human service field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong communication, organizational and event planning.
• Public speaking and excellent communication skills as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet agency auto insurance requirements.
• Must successfully complete all agency background checks.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

• Previous or current volunteer management or older adult programming is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement volunteer and older adult recruitment strategies
• Organize and lead orientation and ongoing training for program volunteers and older adults
• Supervise and support matches
• Serve as a positive resource and reliable presence for volunteers and older adults
