CES BESS Technician II - Traveling O&M Technician

Clean Energy Services•Remote (TX, US), TX
•Onsite

About The Position

Clean Energy Services is hiring a traveling BESS Technician II to provide operations and maintenance coverage at battery energy storage system sites across its Texas portfolio, with occasional travel outside the region. The technician rotates among assigned sites, completes scheduled visits and dispatched work, and serves as the on-site presence at locations without dedicated staff. The role involves coordinating site access, routing, shutdowns, and outage timing with the ROC, field leadership, clients, and other parties. Frequent overnight travel and participation in an on-call emergency-response rotation are required. The technician performs preventive and corrective maintenance on battery systems, PCS/inverters, and balance-of-plant equipment. Work includes inspections, BMS and thermal-management checks, electrical and medium-voltage equipment checks, troubleshooting, repairs, infrared scans, and support for planned and unplanned outages. Before hands-on work, the technician must establish an electrically safe work condition using approved switching, lockout/tagout, test-before-touch verification, and protective grounding. Energized work is restricted to situations with an approved energized-work permit and appropriate PPE and tools. The role also includes identifying and documenting warranty issues, supporting claims through resolution, managing site spare parts and consumables, and preparing daily field reports and monthly reporting inputs. The technician conducts job hazard analyses and tailboards, follows applicable safety procedures and standards, reports incidents and near-misses, and maintains required training and certifications. CES provides site equipment and OEM training, with opportunities to grow across its storage and hybrid portfolio.
