About The Position

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Work at Home Bilingual Bengali-English Video-Phone Interpreter. This role involves using your language skills to improve the lives of limited-English speakers and the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing. Requirements

Fluency in Bengali and English and skilled in the associated cultural dynamics.
Ability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences.
Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
Ability to concentrate, stay detached, remain neutral and objective.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Must have work authorization that does not require sponsorship of a visa.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Dedicated personal device for business purposes.
Desktop/Laptop Computers with Windows, MacOS, or ChromeOS, or Tablets (iPadOS or Android), or Smartphones (iOS or Android).
High speed Internet connection (minimum 5 Mbps download, 3 Mbps upload).
Must have access to a quiet space free from background noise or distraction.
Must be able to operate a keyboard and mouse and remain in a stationary position.
Must use a headset for prolonged periods of time.
Must be able to operate company provided software and systems.
Sufficient manual dexterity to type or write.
Able to lift up to 26 lbs.

Nice To Haves

Education or work experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation or interpretation preferred.
Ability to read and write the requested languages – highly preferred.
This position does not involve written translation however translators and other skilled linguists are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Handle calls on demand and render the meaning of conversations between Bengali and English speakers.
Break communication barriers in industries such as Healthcare, Government, Insurance, Financial, Utilities, Travel & Hospitality, General Business, Law Enforcement, Court, and 911.
Process information quickly and concisely, recognizing sensitive cultural differences.
Maintain professionalism and courtesy at all times, using appropriate terminology.
Understand common industry procedures and practices.
Perform video and audio interpreting sessions involving simple or complex, technical or non-technical subjects.
Respond to interpreting sessions promptly and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
Participate in online, video, and audio training sessions.
Deliver audio and video interpretation services and expediently type data on a dedicated device.
Render correct concepts and meanings according to interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions.
Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
Maintain a professional demeanor throughout video and audio interpreting sessions.
Remain calm during interpreting sessions, especially in emergency situations.
Maintain punctuality and availability during scheduled work hours.
Follow client instructions in compliance with protocol.
Understand protocol and terminology for various industries including Medical, Insurance, Finance, and Law.
Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment.
Provide required company standards of service in a dynamic environment, potentially handling highly emotional calls or high call volumes.
