About The Position

The Benefits Specialist is responsible for the day to day administration, coordination of employee benefits and leave of absence administration to ensure compliance, accuracy, and a positive employee experience. This role is highly employee-facing and requires frequent interaction with employees, managers, payroll, carriers, and external vendors. This role serves as the first point of contact. The Specialist serves as a subject matter expert for benefit programs and leave policies, providing guidance on eligibility, coverage, enrollment, and leave processes while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. This position is 4 days in person, 1 day remote in Moorestown, NJ.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in benefits administration, human resources, or payroll.
  • Strong understanding of employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and benefits administration systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with employees, vendors, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Administer employee benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, EAP, and other employer-sponsored programs
  • Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations in HRIS
  • Advise employees and managers on eligibility, coverage, and benefit policies
  • Conduct benefit audits and resolve discrepancies
  • Support COBRA administration and annual Open Enrollment
  • Prepare benefit reports and analysis for leadership
  • Assist with benefit communications and employee education
  • Administer leave programs including FMLA, NJ FLA, NJ Paid Sick Leave, Workers’ Compensation, and personal leaves
  • Serve as primary contact for our external vendors, internal partners, and employees
  • Communicate with employees regarding leave requests, documentation, and timelines
  • Track leave usage, balances, and return-to-work processes
  • Coordinate with Payroll to ensure accurate timekeeping during leaves
  • Initiate and monitor long-term disability claims as applicable
  • Maintain communication with employees, managers, healthcare providers, and state agencies
