POSITION SUMMARY The Benefits & Payroll Specialist supports the accurate and timely processing of payroll and the day-to-day administration of employee benefit programs. This role serves as a key resource for team members, providing guidance, resolving issues, and ensuring compliance with company policy and applicable regulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, service-focused, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, operational environment.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in HR, Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in payroll, benefits, or HR administration.
  • Understanding of basic payroll practices and benefit administration.
  • Strong customer service mindset with the ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to pass applicable background and pre-employment screenings.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and processing of semi-monthly and bi-weekly payrolls for all employee groups, including flight crews, maintenance, and administrative staff.
  • Review payroll data for accuracy, including time records, pay adjustments, reimbursements, and per diem.
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support payroll reporting needs for accounting and finance.
  • Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour requirements.
  • Support day-to-day benefits operations including enrollments, terminations, qualifying life events, and status changes.
  • Assist employees with benefit questions and provide clear explanations of available programs.
  • Coordinate with benefit vendors to resolve eligibility or claim issues.
  • Support open enrollment activities, communications, and system updates.
  • Maintain accurate benefits records and documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information.
  • Support required reporting and documentation for payroll taxes, retirement plans, and health and welfare programs.
  • Assist with audits, reconciliations, and internal reviews.
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance accuracy and service delivery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
