About The Position

The Benefits Manager is responsible for the strategic design, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of all employee benefits programs, including health & welfare, retirement, and wellness initiatives. This role serves as a key advisor to executive leadership, leveraging data-driven insights to optimize program effectiveness, manage costs, and enhance the overall employee experience. This position requires a strong blend of analytical rigor and executive presence, with the ability to translate complex data into clear recommendations and influence senior stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or related field
  • 7–10+ years of progressive experience in benefits management within a service-oriented organization
  • Deep expertise across health & welfare, retirement, and wellness program administration
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data modeling, financial analysis, and reporting
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and present to executive audiences
  • Experience managing vendors, brokers, and RFP processes

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications (e.g., CEBS, CBP, SHRM-CP/SCP)
  • Experience in high-growth or multi-state organizations
  • Familiarity with HRIS and benefits administration platforms

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy, design, and delivery of all benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement (401(k)), and wellness initiatives
  • Evaluate and evolve benefits offerings to remain competitive, cost-effective, and aligned with organizational goals
  • Partner with executive leadership and HR to align benefits strategy with workforce planning and total rewards philosophy
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on industry trends, compliance, and emerging benefits innovations
  • Own benefits analytics, including cost modeling, utilization trends, ROI analysis, and forecasting
  • Develop executive-level dashboards and reporting to inform decision-making
  • Conduct vendor performance analysis and lead data-driven RFP processes
  • Identify cost containment opportunities while maintaining or improving employee experience
  • Manage relationships with brokers, carriers, TPAs, and wellness vendors
  • Lead contract negotiations, renewals, and service-level performance reviews
  • Ensure vendors meet performance, compliance, and service expectations
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable regulations (e.g., ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA)
  • Partner with legal and finance teams on audits, filings, and risk mitigation
  • Maintain plan documentation and governance processes
  • Oversee benefits communications strategy, including open enrollment and year-round education
  • Simplify complex benefit offerings into clear, engaging messaging for employees
  • Partner with HR and leadership to enhance employee engagement through wellness and total rewards programs
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, presenting insights and recommendations with confidence and clarity
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, Payroll, and external partners to ensure seamless program delivery
  • Mentor and/or manage benefits team members or external administrators
