About The Position

The US Benefits and 401(k) Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing employee benefits programs that attract and retain top talent while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. This role will oversee health and welfare benefits, retirement plans, and serve as a backup for payroll processing. The position requires strong collaboration with brokers, carriers, and internal leadership to deliver best-in-class benefits solutions.  Additional responsibilities to lead HRIS improvement activities and act as payroll backup.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in benefits administration and 401(k) plan management.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state benefits regulations.
  • Experience working with brokers, carriers, and vendors.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and payroll systems; ADP experience required.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of employee benefits programs, including health, welfare, and retirement plans.
  • Strong knowledge of ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, and other federal and state regulations governing benefits and payroll.
  • Familiarity with payroll processes and systems, preferably ADP or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of vendor management and benefits plan design strategies.
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to analyze data and provide actionable insights for benefits strategy improvements.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for evaluating benefits programs and cost structures.
  • Strong negotiation skills for working with brokers and carriers to secure competitive plans.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills for educating employees and collaborating with management.
  • Proficiency in HRIS, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Project management skills to handle multiple priorities across multiple sites.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of U.S. employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and wellness initiatives.
  • Oversee 401(k) plan administration, including compliance testing, audits, and employee education.
  • Partner with brokers and carriers to negotiate renewals, evaluate plan performance, and implement cost-effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with management to design competitive benefits strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting for audits and regulatory filings.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for benefits inquiries and issue resolution.
  • Develop and deliver employee education materials and presentations on benefits and retirement plans.
  • Provide backup support for payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Assist with payroll-related compliance and reporting as needed.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators.
  • Monitor service levels and address performance issues proactively.
