This means you will be expected to report to one of our Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of benefits financial analysis and reporting practices.
  • Basic understanding of 401(k) plan operations, compliance testing, and vendor coordination.
  • Basic knowledge of ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act), Internal Revenue Regulations, Department of Labor Regulations, reporting requirements (5500)
  • Proficiency in spreadsheets and financial or HR systems (SAP or similar preferred).
  • Familiarity with accounting principles; benefits and medical terminology a plus.
  • Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience benefits administration, benefits financial analysis, payroll, or retirement plan support
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and monitor financial performance of employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and 401(k) plans; support planning, implementation, administration, and ongoing evaluation of benefit programs.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis related to benefits programs; prepare reports and dashboards to support benefits budgeting, variance analysis, and cost trend monitoring.
  • Support 401(k) plan administration activities, including payroll reconciliation, review of employer and employee contributions, coordination with recordkeepers and trustees, and assistance with annual compliance testing, audits, Form 5500 preparation, and required filings.
  • Collect, validate, and analyze benefits data to support cost/benefit analyses, carrier renewals, and vendor evaluations; assist with benchmarking benefit plans against industry and market data.
  • Prepare financial and census data for plan accountants, consultants, actuaries, attorneys, and vendors; assist with Requests for Proposal (RFPs) for benefit plan administration and insurance services.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and year-end benefits financial reporting; reconcile invoices with eligibility and enrollment data.
  • Assist in the development of benefits-related communications and reporting to support management and employees.
  • Troubleshoot operational and data issues with third-party vendors and carriers and recommend process improvements.
  • Stay informed of regulatory and reporting changes impacting benefit and retirement plans.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
