The Benefits Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the administrative tasks associated with benefit plans, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability, and other benefit offerings.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s degree in related field or equivalent experience required. Equivalent years of experience are defined as one year of professional experience for each year of college requested.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills. Communicates effectively as appropriate for the needs of the audience
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Solid time management skills

Nice To Haves

  • Previous benefits experience a plus
  • Transportation industry experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Respond to employee benefit emails and requests daily, including investigating and resolving employee benefits questions.
  • Answer inbound and place outbound benefits phone calls. Own the benefits phone line to support direct transfers from HRSC.
  • Process medical support notices including updating benefit enrollment, as needed, and responding to the various state agencies in a timely manner.
  • Assist the benefits team during the annual benefits open enrollment.
  • Process qualified life event benefit changes, which may include employee follow-up to obtain the required documentation, tuition reimbursements, and dependent verification.
  • Support employee leave process/FMLA including invoicing for employee owing while on leave, following up to ensure receipt of payment, and applying payments in the system.
  • Perform other job duties in support of the benefits department, as assigned.
