About The Position

Under limited direction, the Benefits Assistant will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of policies and programs covering the company benefit processes and objectives. May assist in developing procedures. Tasks may include but are not limited to, answering employee inquiries on eligibility, coverage, and other benefits matters, providing technical assistance, and maintaining benefits records, documents, and databases. This role will rely on knowledge of the standard concepts, best practices, and procedures within the field of U.S. Benefits to accomplish departmental and organizational goals. Communications delivered to the entire company are a significant responsibility of this role.

Requirements

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • 1 year of experience in customer focused administration
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Strong organizational and prioritizing skills
  • High School diploma or GED certificate
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of administrative experience in a Benefits or Human Resources related field
  • One year of creation and delivery of employee communications
  • Knowledge of benefit regulations (HIPAA, Section 125, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, QMSCO, USERRA, ACA, Federal and State Leave of Absence Regulations)
  • Knowledge of SAP Payroll software and HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems)

Responsibilities

  • Data management
  • Enrollment database administration
  • Payroll database administration (as it pertains to benefit plan administration)
  • HRIS database administration (as it pertains to benefit plan administration)
  • Communication of all benefit plan information to employees and business partners
  • Ongoing benefit education
  • Open Enrollment various duties and responsibilities
  • New Hire Enrollment processing
  • Responses to Employees through Benefits Inbox
  • Maintenance of electronic files
  • Mail processing and mailing of required notices both paper and electronic
  • Provide applicable reporting
  • Back-up to Benefits Administrator
  • Specialized projects as assigned
  • Adhere to company guidelines and policies
  • All other tasks assigned
