Benefit Programs Specialist
About The Position
This role involves completing required state and in-house training on SNAP, Medicaid, and other government programs. The specialist will register applications for assistance, execute system searches, and schedule initial interviews. They will interview persons for assistance, obtain necessary information, and make eligibility determinations. The position requires maintaining a caseload and providing timely customer service in accordance with state and local policy. Additionally, the specialist will explain benefit programs and provide information and referral services to internal and external resources, engaging clients in a positive working relationship. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma or GED is required.
- Valid driver's license
- Willing to participate in mandatory state training including Medicaid and SNAP
Nice To Haves
- An Associates degree in social sciences or a related field is preferred
- Bilingual Spanish- English is preferred
