About The Position

The Bend Cutter position will rotate days and nights, with one week on days and one week on nights. The Bend Cutter prepares the site for daily work, performs all housekeeping, and carries out duties necessary for daily activities. The role requires the ability to read and interpret instructions and documentation. The level and degree of job responsibilities and requirements vary depending on months of experience and assigned job step. Employees may be asked to work in other crafts at levels appropriate to their training and skills as requested by supervision.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret instructions and documentation
  • Ability to operate a track torch for cutting
  • Ability to operate a band saw
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawing instructions for cutting
  • Familiarity with pipe type and schedules
  • Ability to organize cut pipe for spool sheet
  • Ability to interpret hand signals
  • Ability to manipulate equipment on unlevel working surfaces
  • Ability to assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and work pieces
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance or repairs
  • Ability to observe load hook up and determine safety of load
  • Ability to inspect crane for defective parts, document, and notify supervisor
  • Ability to load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies
  • Ability to perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities on tools and equipment
  • Ability to learn to read and understand plans and specifications
  • Ability to interpret load charts
  • Reliance on instructions and pre-established guidelines
  • Works under immediate supervision
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
  • Ability to assist other craft workers
  • High school diploma or equivalent (may be required)
  • Previous years of related experience (may be required)

Responsibilities

  • Operate a track torch for cutting as well as a band saw
  • Read and interpret engineering drawing instructions for cutting
  • Be familiar with pipe type and schedules
  • Organize cut pipe for spool sheet
  • Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary
  • Interpret hand signals to determine where materials are to be placed
  • Manipulate equipment on unlevel working surfaces
  • Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and work pieces during installation
  • Perform routine maintenance or repairs
  • Observe load hook up and determine safety of load
  • Inspect crane for defective parts, document, and notify the supervisor of defects or malfunctions
  • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies
  • Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities on tools and equipment
  • Learn to read and understand plans and specifications; may be required to interpret load charts
  • Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform job functions
  • Work under immediate supervision
  • Have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
  • Assist other craft workers as needed
