About The Position

This position requires deep, practical knowledge of legacy Cisco hardware and software. The ideal candidate must be comfortable interfacing with customers and team members in identifying components, determining compatibility, configuring, and troubleshooting older Cisco chassis. Candidate must be able to also support the physical side of the operations department as well as the manufacturing division, assisting in light assembly and testing of MFG products.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic tool using skills and the ability to refine those to excellence.
• The ability to manipulate spreadsheets, create documents, and utilize online ticketing/communication systems.
• Must possess a strong understanding of compatible modules, supervisors, line cards, interface cards, power supplies, and fan trays for platforms such as Cisco 1900, 2500, 2600, 2800, 2900 3500, 3600, 3700, 3800, 3900, 4000, 5000/5500, 6500, 7500 and 7600 series.
• Must have experience with Cisco IOS and legacy IOS versions, including loading, upgrading, downgrading, and recovery (via TFTP, etc.).
• Must have CLI proficiency to troubleshoot boot failures, ROMMON issues, configuration problems, hardware failures, routing, switching, VLANs, trunking, STP, and EtherChannel.
• Must possess full knowledge of the manufactured product line.
• Must possess a good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Must be capable of diagnosing and repairing manufactured product.
• Must possess the ability to follow detailed processes.
• The ability to effectively communicate on technical issues with customers and internal team members. This is a customer-facing position that requires a high degree of professionalism.
• Solid eye-hand coordination for small circuit soldering and assembly.

Responsibilities

• Interact with customers and internal departments to identify hardware models, determine module/line-card compatibility, and handle installation/configuration.
• Evaluate legacy equipment to determine the best path to maintain or replace it.
• Assist with final assembly, inspection, and testing of manufactured products.
• Repairs of manufactured goods as needed.
• Kitting of subassemblies for distribution.
• Diagnostic and repair services for RMA’d materials.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
