Work with general supervision, plans, lays out, fabricates, assembles, and repairs sheet metal parts, equipment, and products. Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products. Performs all deburring operations. Strip remaining maskant and silstic from finished chem mill parts. Removes burrs and sharp edges by use of various hand tools and materials such as files and edge breakers. Smoothes edges and removes build ups with air or electric equipment using abrasive disk and sleeves. Operates burring equipment using countersink, grinding wheels, burring rolls, bench grinders, rotary files, drill presses and jitterbug. Control thickness by using ultrasonic gages and micrometers calipers, scales to work to close tolerances +/-.002. Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area. Performs other duties as assigned including leading projects and participation in project committees.
