About The Position

The Bench Hand performs general metal fabrication work, including washing, grinding, sanding, drilling, and deburring parts to specification. The role requires using appropriate tools and abrasives for different metals, working from complex drawings and specifications, measuring parts, and inspecting components for non-conformances. The Bench Hand records job labor electronically, maintains equipment and a clean work area, follows safety procedures, and completes internal crane/hoist training. This position is located in Green Bay, Wisconsin and is a day-shift role.

Requirements

At least 6 months of metal fabrication, heavy assembly, or similar experience.
Ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions while working independently.
Attention to detail and careful handling and movement of parts to preserve them.
Ability to push, pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, and grasp as necessary.
Ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
Knowledge of general metal fabrication techniques and tools.
Basic knowledge of metal types and appropriate abrasives.

Responsibilities

Perform metal fabrication tasks such as washing, grinding, sanding, drilling, and deburring to specification.
Use tools and abrasives appropriate to the metal type and required finish.
Interpret and work from complex drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
Measure parts using a tape measure, micrometers, and calipers.
Identify and document non-conformances during component inspection.
Notify the supervisor when received work does not meet specifications from previous operations.
Record job labor accurately using electronic tracking.
Maintain clean equipment, tools, and work area.
Follow established safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
Complete internal crane/hoist training and certification.
Perform other assigned jobs.
