About The Position

This role involves placing bellies on conveyors for injection with cure. The primary responsibility is to maintain a continuous flow of bellies, ensuring they are end-to-end with minimal overlap. The position requires vigilance for bones or ribs in the bellies and the insertion of a comb into each belly. Bellies, weighing 15-30 lbs after injection, are then picked up two at a time at shoulder height to be hung on trees. These trees are weighed four at a time, with weights documented before being moved to a drip cooler and subsequently loaded into a smokehouse.

Requirements

  • Must be willing and able to rotate job positions per department schedule.
  • Must be willing and able to work in other departments as needed according to production requirements.
  • Must be willing and able to feed and operate the Derind Machines.
  • Must be willing and able to use metal hooks and insert into bellies.
  • Must Handle products according to USDA inspections.
  • Must be willing and able to stand for the entire shift (8 – 10 hours).
  • Must be willing and able to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be willing and able to lift, push, pull up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be willing and able to work in wet or humid conditions (non-weather).
  • Must be willing and able to work near moving mechanical parts.

Nice To Haves

  • All non-discretionary positions will be awarded to the most senior Team Member by department first and then plantwide.
  • Successful bidders will not be permitted to bid again for six (6) months unless promotion to a higher job is available.
  • Most senior TM that meets requirement will be given a 2-week trial period.

Responsibilities

  • Place bellies on conveyors for injection with cure.
  • Feed the line with enough bellies to keep them end to end, ensuring overlap is less than 4 inches.
  • Inspect bellies for bones or ribs.
  • Insert comb into the belly.
  • Pick up bellies two at a time at shoulder height to hang on trees.
  • Weigh trees of bellies four at a time and document weights.
  • Push loaded trees into a drip cooler.
  • Place loaded trees in drip coolers until loaded into a smokehouse.
  • Feed and operate Derind Machines.
  • Use metal hooks and insert them into bellies.
  • Handle products according to USDA inspections.
  • Rotate job positions per department schedule.
  • Work in other departments as needed according to production requirements.
