About The Position

This role involves placing bellies on conveyors for injection with cure. The primary responsibility is to ensure a continuous flow of bellies, maintaining an end-to-end pattern with minimal overlap. Workers must identify and remove any bones or ribs from the bellies and insert a comb. Bellies, weighing 15-30 lbs after injection, are then picked up two at a time and hung on trees at shoulder height. These trees are weighed, with weights documented, and then moved into a drip cooler before being loaded into a smokehouse.

Requirements

  • Must be willing and able to rotate job positions per department schedule.
  • Must be willing and able to work in other departments as needed according to production requirements.
  • Must be willing and able to feed and operate the Derind Machines.
  • Must be willing and able to use metal hooks and insert into bellies.
  • Must Handle products according to USDA inspections.
  • Must be willing and able to stand for the entire shift (8 – 10 hours).
  • Must be willing and able to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be willing and able to lift, push, pull up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be willing and able to work in wet or humid conditions (non-weather).
  • Must be willing and able to work near moving mechanical parts.

Responsibilities

  • Place bellies on conveyors for injection with cure.
  • Feed the line with enough bellies to keep them end to end, ensuring overlap is less than 4 inches.
  • Identify and remove bones or ribs from bellies.
  • Insert comb into the belly.
  • Pick up bellies two at a time and hang them on trees at shoulder height.
  • Weigh trees of bellies (4 at a time) and document weights.
  • Push weighed trees into a drip cooler.
  • Load trees into a smokehouse.
  • Feed and operate Derind Machines.
  • Use metal hooks and insert them into bellies.
  • Handle products according to USDA inspections.
  • Rotate job positions per department schedule.
  • Work in other departments as needed according to production requirements.
