About The Position

The Bell Ringer supports The Salvation Army’s Christmas fundraising efforts by creating a warm and welcoming presence at kettle locations throughout the community. The position helps generate donations that directly support local families in need during the Christmas season and throughout the year. This is a seasonal Christmas position, temporary for up to 90 days. Hours may vary and are not guaranteed. Christmas positions have expectations that must be met to qualify for work assignments and continued temporary employment, including expectations regarding donations received. The position has no benefits. The Salvation Army is exempt from federal and state unemployment insurance programs, so employees are not eligible for unemployment compensation upon termination. Salvation Army worksites are drug- and alcohol-free.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• No experience required.
• Friendly, approachable, and positive demeanor.
• Communicates well with others.
• Dependable and able to work independently.
• Able to stand for extended periods outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Greet prospective donors in a friendly, positive manner.
• Thank each donor for their contribution.
• Ring the bell when not speaking with patrons.
• Remain stationed at a Red kettle in varying weather conditions and dress appropriately.
• Maintain a courteous and respectful attitude toward store personnel and the public.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
