Behaviour Interventionist - Panorama
About The Position
As a Behaviour Interventionist (BI) at Monarch House, your primary responsibility is implementing programs designed and supervised by a senior clinical team (of speech pathologists, Board-Certified Behavior Analysts® BCBAs, Occupational therapists, and physical therapists) to clients receiving services from Monarch House. You will work within an interdisciplinary team to support skill acquisition and/or decrease maladaptive behaviors while providing an engaging and positive client experience in a fast-paced and frequently changing environment. Monarch House does not offer LMIA or independent contractor setup. This is a part-time, hourly, community-based role in the Surrey area, with a salary starting at $21-23/hr. The work schedule is Monday - Saturday, pending client availability.
Requirements
- 1-2 years experience working with children and youth with complex needs and/or developmental disabilities.
- Pursuing or completed education in Psychology, Speech or linguistics, occupational therapy or kinesiology.
- Education and demonstrated ability in ethical and professional practice.
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening within the last 6 months.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- A valid driver's license (Class 5) and reliable vehicle for daily use.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
Nice To Haves
- Minimum 1 year experience working in client homes is a plus.
- Enrollment in or degree from a post-secondary program of Psychology, Educational Psychology, Special Education or another related field is an asset.
- Autism Spectrum Disorder specific coursework, training or workshops an asset.
- Experience working with clients who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder or other developmental disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for implementing programs based on best practices.
- Uses systematic methods and behavioural strategies to support client in changing their behaviour.
- Contributes to the development of programs established by the clinical team to teach and reinforce a variety of skills for children and youth in a 1:1 and/or small group setting.
- Understand the functions of behavior and responds appropriately and safely when situations arise.
- Adhere to all clinical training, procedures, and protocols.
- Ability to adapt to changing conditions and/or routine and provide creative solutions.
- Responsible for creating a positive and engaging environment for the client.
- Support clients with personal care tasks such as dressing, toileting, and eating.
- Responsible for maintaining the well-being and safety.
