About The Position

Anglophone West School District invites applications for a 10-month permanent position as a Behaviour Intervention Mentor (BIM). This role involves planning and providing services to assist school teams in supporting students with challenging behaviors. The BIM works under the direct supervision of the principal and as part of the Education Support Services Team (ESST). Key responsibilities include planning and implementing direct services to students using evidence-based interventions and strategies to foster a positive learning environment. The role also involves supporting teachers by modeling tier 1 strategies for classroom environments, providing individual and group interventions, and collaborating with various professionals. The BIM participates in case management and case conferencing to develop intervention plans for behavior. Other duties may be assigned as necessary. The position aims to develop students' social skills, communication skills, self-esteem, and resilience, and may include training school personnel in areas like conflict management, anger management, observation techniques, and teaching social skills.

Requirements

  • Graduation from university at the bachelor level in psychology, social work, or education.
  • Specific knowledge regarding behavioural and mental health challenges.
  • Applicants must clearly demonstrate the essential qualifications to be given further consideration.
  • The successful applicant will be required to provide a criminal record check.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of positive support, behaviour management strategies, applied behaviour analysis and crisis intervention is desirable.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and provision of services to assist school teams in supporting student behaviour.
  • Planning and implementation of direct services to students through evidence-based interventions and strategies.
  • Supporting teachers through the modelling of tier 1 strategies for the classroom environment.
  • Providing individual and group interventions.
  • Supporting teachers in strategies for behaviour.
  • Collaborating with various professionals as a member of the ESST.
  • Participating in case management and case conferencing in the development of intervention plans for behaviour.
  • Providing training to School Intervention Workers and other school personnel in areas such as conflict management, anger management, observation techniques, and teaching social skills.
  • Developing strategies to keep students retention to promote positive social and communication skill development in students.
  • Supporting the school team in developing positive learning environment initiatives.
  • Conducting individual or group interventions.
  • Collaborating with various professionals in the school system and in the community, such as teachers, school psychologists, social workers, probation officers and mental health professionals.
  • Participating in case management and case conferencing in the development of intervention plans for behaviour management plans.
