About The Position

A family in Presidio Heights, San Francisco, CA, is seeking a specialized afternoon/evening caregiver for their school-aged child. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 3pm-8pm, for 25 hours a week. The child is bright, loving, social, verbal, curious, and highly engaged. He also has regulation and behavioral challenges, particularly later in the day, and he needs more structure and skilled support than a typical after-school babysitter or nanny role would provide. The family is looking for someone who can provide warm, steady, one-on-one support in the afternoons and evenings, helping with transitions, impulse control, sibling dynamics, routines, emotional regulation, and consistent follow-through. The role is somewhere between a highly experienced nanny, behavioral support aide, special educator, and home-based shadow teacher. The role would be primarily focused on supporting the child and helping create more consistency and structure during the afternoon/evening window, while working collaboratively with the other nanny who cares for the other child in the home, the Mother, and the rest of their household team.

  • Experience with children who have impulsivity, sensory-seeking behavior, difficulty with transitions, big feelings, or behavioral challenges
  • Warmth, emotional steadiness, confidence, strong boundaries, excellent judgment, and the ability to stay calm and connected while still holding structure

Nice To Haves

  • A background in child development, special education, behavioral support, OT-informed care, shadow teaching, or high-level nannying

  • Helping the child build independence and self-confidence
  • Supporting positive and safe play with the child's younger brother when they are together
  • Partnering closely with parents and household staff to create consistency
