About The Position

Strategies to Empower People (STEP) is hiring full-time and part-time Behavioral Support Staff to provide in-home and community support for adults with physical disabilities as well as Developmental Disabilities including Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, intellectual disabilities, and more. The adults supported by this position also have regular and consistent behavioral challenges which include physical & verbal aggression, elopement, self-injurious behaviors, and other similar needs. This position supports people who are deaf or hard-of-hearing and can require AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE (ASL) skills. Behavioral Support Staff provide hands-on support for our clients who exhibit regular and consistent behaviors. We are looking for empathetic, patient, and creative individuals who can help our clients find new ways to grow their independence while supporting their behavioral needs! This includes support with activities like: Hygiene (showering, toileting, bathing, etc.), Food preparation and meal assistance, Developing relationships in their community, Money management, Personal growth and health management, Behavior management, And much more!

Requirements

• Must be 18+ with a high school diploma, GED, or Certificate of Completion.
• Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of qualifying behavioral experience (professional experience, i.e. work-related).
• Must have AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE (ASL) skills (level of skill dependent on client being served).
• May be required to provide CA Driver License, current auto insurance, and maintain a clear Motor Vehicle Record for positions that require driving.
