Behavioral Specialist / Social Worker
About The Position
Lifesteps, a Western Pennsylvania nonprofit agency, is seeking a full-time Behavioral Specialist to work with individuals and participants assigned to its community homes program. The position is based at the agency’s office in Eighty Four, Pennsylvania, or Castle Shannon, Pennsylvania, and travels throughout Allegheny and Washington Counties to provide services to adults with intellectual disabilities. The Behavioral Specialist conducts functional assessments, develops strategies and behavior support plans, trains participants and their support networks, and monitors and evaluates participant progress. The work schedule is daytime, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Human Services or a closely related field, such as Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, Behavior Therapy, Education, or Child and Family Development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Current driver’s license.
Nice To Haves
- Coursework in Applied Behavior Analysis.
- Experience working with adults with an intellectual disability.
- ABA Certification.
- PA Behavior Specialist Licensure.
Responsibilities
- Perform functional assessments and develop strategies to support participants.
- Provide on-site training to participants, staff, parents, and caregivers, and monitor participant success.
- Develop effective behavior support plans for use by the care team and evaluate participant progress.
