About The Position

This position works under general direction and requires thorough knowledge of behavioral healthcare theories, interventions, and evaluation techniques. As a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team, the supervisor is responsible for the development and implementation of mental health interventions (e.g., psychological, social) for a caseload of mentally ill criminal offenders. The role involves developing specialized treatment plans and programs, as well as intervention methods used by treatment teams to treat patients. Additionally, the supervisor will complete mental health risk assessments, including suicide watch assessments, within their scope of practice and for Non-Independently Licensed Mental Health Professionals, under the direction and consultation of an Independently Licensed Mental Health Professional. The position also provides social psychological services to patients, including advanced practice individual and group therapy, diagnostic evaluations, psychosocial assessments, and suicide prevention interventions. Documentation is completed in the Electronic Health Care Record, and participation in the mental health services quality assurance program is expected. The role also involves initiating and maintaining contact with families and community agencies, providing and seeking information relative to patient care and treatment, and making appropriate community referrals. Personnel management tasks, including recruitment, interviewing, and recommendations for hiring, are also part of the responsibilities. Compliance with all facility and DRC rules, policies, and procedures, as well as maintaining necessary data documents, is required. Establishing and maintaining working relationships with other facilities and agencies, conducting in-service training, participating in continuing education programs, and attending conferences, workshops, and meetings as directed are also key functions.

Requirements

  • Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board. -Or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
  • Thorough knowledge of behavioral healthcare theories, interventions, and evaluation techniques.
  • Ability to complete mental health risk assessments inclusive of suicide watch assessments within their scope of practice and for Non-Independently Licensed Mental Health Professionals directed by and in consultation with an Independently Licensed Mental Health Professional.
  • Ability to document evaluations, assessments, and interventions in the Electronic Health Care Record.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain contact with families and community agencies.
  • Ability to make appropriate community referrals.
  • Ability to comply with all facility and DRC rules, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain necessary data documents required by DRC.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements mental health interventions for a caseload of mentally ill criminal offenders.
