About The Position

This position works under general direction and requires thorough knowledge of behavioral healthcare theories, interventions, and evaluation techniques. As a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team, the supervisor is responsible for the development and implementation of mental health interventions (e.g., psychological, social) for a caseload of mentally ill criminal offenders. The role involves developing specialized treatment plans and programs, as well as intervention methods used by treatment teams to treat patients. The supervisor is also responsible for completing mental health risk assessments, providing social psychological services, documenting interventions, participating in quality assurance, maintaining contact with families and community agencies, making community referrals, participating in personnel management tasks, and complying with all facility and DRC rules, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
  • OR Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
  • Thorough knowledge of behavioral healthcare theories, interventions, and evaluation techniques.
  • Ability to complete mental health risk assessments inclusive of suicide watch assessments within their scope of practice and for Non-Independently Licensed Mental Health Professionals directed by and in consultation with an Independently Licensed Mental Health Professional.
  • Ability to provide social psychological services to patients including advanced practice individual and group therapy, diagnostic evaluations, psychosocial assessments and suicide prevention interventions.
  • Ability to document evaluations, assessments, and interventions in the Electronic Health Care Record.
  • Ability to participate in and/or be responsible for the mental health services quality assurance program.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain contact with families and community agencies.
  • Ability to provide and seek information relative to patient care and treatment.
  • Ability to make appropriate community referrals, per mental health treatment team.
  • Ability to participate in personnel management tasks including recruitment, interview and recommendations for hiring.
  • Ability to comply with all facility and DRC rules, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain necessary data documents required by DRC.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a working relationship with other facilities and agencies.
  • Ability to conduct in-service training.
  • Ability to participate in continuing education programs.
  • Ability to attend conferences, workshops and meetings as directed.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test (urinalysis) for illegal drug use, including marijuana.
  • Must undergo a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements mental health interventions for a caseload of mentally ill criminal offenders as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team.

  • Supervises, evaluates, and trains social workers and/or counselors.
  • Assigns caseloads and oversees treatment activities of mental health social workers and/or counselors.
  • Completes mental health risk assessments, including suicide watch assessments, within their scope of practice and for Non-Independently Licensed Mental Health Professionals, under the direction and consultation of an Independently Licensed Mental Health Professional.
