About The Position

The Ohio Department of Youth Services (DYS) is seeking a Behavioral Healthcare Provider 2 to oversee facility behavioral healthcare functions. This role requires a strong leader with a solid background and a passion for habilitating youth. The Behavioral Healthcare Provider 2 will provide social work services within their scope of licensure, including assessments, treatment planning, individual, group, and/or family interventions, crisis intervention, liaison services with external entities, and discharge/aftercare planning for assigned youth offenders. The position also involves representing social and habilitative programming on the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDT), establishing and maintaining working relationships with external facilities and agencies, contacting parents/guardians, and maintaining comprehensive documentation for compliance with federal, state, and DYS policies. The department is the juvenile corrections system for the state, mandated to confine felony offenders aged 10-21, providing programming to address their criminological and behavioral needs. DYS is a qualifying employer for the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. New hires must complete a mandatory 6-week paid training program, with the first week at the facility, weeks 2-4 at the DYS Training Academy in Orient, Ohio (Monday-Thursday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm, with travel, lodging, and meals provided), and weeks 5-6 as on-the-job training at the facility. The State of Ohio is a drug-free workplace and prohibits marijuana use. This position may be subject to additional restrictions under the State of Ohio Drug-Free Workplace Policy (HR-39).

Requirements

  • Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC) by Ohio Chemical Dependency Counselor’sCredentialing Board.
  • Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
  • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
  • Licensed Independent Marriage and Family Therapist (IMFT) by the Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse with certificate of authority as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or Certified Nurse Practitioner with specialty certification in Mental Health or Psychiatry as issued by Ohio Board of Nursing.

  • Must complete a paid, mandatory 6 weeks of training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide social work services, including assessments; treatment planning; individual, group, and/or family interventions/sessions; crisis intervention; liaison services (e.g. with family, regional office/juvenile parole officers, release authority, school, courts, and other community support services); discharge and aftercare planning; etc. to assigned caseload of youth offenders.
  • Represent social and/or habilitative programming on the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDT).
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with other facilities, agencies, and support services.
  • Contact parent/guardian (e.g., in emergencies, crises, transfers, etc.).
  • Access, develop, maintain, and synthesize written and/or electronic documentation to satisfy requirements of federal, state, and local agencies; and in compliance with DYS policy (e.g., progress notes, institutional and community reports pertaining to the youth’s case; etc.).
