About The Position

The Ohio Department of Youth Services (DYS) is seeking a Behavioral Healthcare Provider 2 to oversee facility behavioral healthcare functions. DYS is the juvenile corrections system for the state of Ohio, mandated to confine felony offenders, ages 10-21, who have been adjudicated and committed by juvenile courts. DYS aims to improve Ohio's future by habilitating youth and empowering families and communities, believing that all youth can reach their potential and that staff are their greatest resource. This role involves providing social work services, participating in treatment teams, establishing inter-agency relationships, and maintaining documentation for assigned youth offenders.

Requirements

  • Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
  • OR Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
  • OR Licensed Independent Marriage and Family Therapist (IMFT) by the Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
  • OR Licensed Registered Nurse with certificate of authority as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or Certified Nurse Practitioner with specialty certification in Mental Health or Psychiatry as issued by Ohio Board of Nursing.
  • Must undergo a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check (including BCI & FBI, Public Safety, and State of Ohio Taxation).
  • Must attend 3 weeks of mandatory, paid pre-service training at the Correctional Training Academy in Orient, Ohio.

Responsibilities

  • Provide social work services, including assessments, treatment planning, individual, group, and/or family interventions/sessions, crisis intervention, liaison services, discharge and aftercare planning to assigned caseload of youth offenders, within the scope of their licensure.
  • Represent social and/or habilitative programming on the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDT) consistent with policy.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with other facilities, agencies, and support services.
  • Contact parent/guardian in emergencies, crises, transfers, etc.
  • Access, develop, maintain, and synthesize written and/or electronic documentation to satisfy requirements of federal, state, and local agencies, and in compliance with DYS policy, including progress notes and institutional and community reports pertaining to the youth’s case.
