About The Position

Join Broadstep Behavioral Health and play a critical role in overseeing the safe, trauma-informed care for children and adolescents with behavioral health needs in a 24/7 therapeutic residential environment. As a Behavioral Health Unit Manager, you’ll be a key member of a multidisciplinary team supporting individuals on their path to stability and independence.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree in healthcare, human services, or a related field preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in behavioral health, residential treatment, healthcare, or a related setting.
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership, supervisory, or team management experience.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and team development skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
  • Experience enforcing policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements consistently.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with documentation systems, EHR platforms, and operational reporting.
  • Ability to successfully complete required background checks, drug screening, and health clearance.
  • Valid driver’s license as required for applicable responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of an assigned residential treatment unit, ensuring a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for youth.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop Lead DSPs, DSPs, and direct care staff while fostering accountability, teamwork, and trauma-informed care practices.
  • Manage staffing coverage, scheduling, unit operations, and staff performance to maintain safe supervision standards and operational excellence.
  • Oversee implementation of behavior support plans, crisis response, and safety protocols to support individualized care and positive outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, Medicaid, CARF, safety, documentation, and mandatory reporting requirements.
  • Monitor unit documentation, incident reporting, supervision logs, and operational processes to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Partner closely with nursing, clinical, education, and facility leadership to support treatment goals, care coordination, and successful program operations.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized unit environment while proactively addressing risks, concerns, and operational challenges.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, retention, and ongoing staff development to build a strong, engaged team.
  • Drive continuous improvement through quality initiatives, audits, and implementation of policies and best practices.
