About The Position

Millwood Hospital, a UHS affiliated facility, is a 134-bed mental health facility providing inpatient and outpatient treatment for mental health and chemical dependency. Since 1971, Millwood has served children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. Located in Arlington, TX, the hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission and is part of Universal Health Services, Inc. We are seeking a dependable and professional Behavioral Health Transportation Specialist (MHT) to transport behavioral health patients safely and efficiently on a PRN (as-needed) schedule. The ideal candidate will possess excellent driving skills, strong customer service abilities, and a commitment to maintaining a safe environment for all passengers. This role offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to patient care by ensuring reliable transportation within our DFW community.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Valid Texas Driver License
  • Clean Driving Record (Verifiable)
  • Ability to pass initial and periodic drug screening
  • Ability to pass background check
  • Strong communication skills to interact professionally with patients and team members.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle physically demanding tasks associated with transporting patients.
  • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and adherence to safety standards in previous driving roles.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year experience working with mental health populations of all ages preferred.
  • One (1) year experience driving passenger van preferred (up to 15 passengers)
  • Basic mechanical knowledge preferred
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance practices.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate shuttle van to transport patients between facilities, appointments, and community locations.
  • Assist patients with boarding and disembarking, providing courteous support while ensuring their safety throughout transit.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections, perform basic maintenance checks, and report any mechanical issues promptly.
  • Follow all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies to maintain a secure transportation environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, and vehicle condition in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, patients, and other stakeholders to coordinate schedules and address any transportation needs or concerns.
  • Handle heavy lifting when assisting patients with mobility devices or luggage as required.
