About The Position

The Behavioral Health Therapist, under general supervision, provides therapy for students with clinical needs in a school setting and collaborates with the school social worker, school counselor, teachers and other relevant individuals to support the needs of the students. Operates on a flexible schedule as required.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field from an accredited university.
  • Associate level licensure as a Clinical Social Worker, Clinical Mental Health Counselor, or Marriage & Family Therapist.
  • 90 days is allowed to secured licensure if hired post-graduation, but before licensure is issued by state licensure board.
  • If licensure processing is delayed by the board, a statement from the board must be provided to formally request an extension.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and be able to maintain a safe driving history as defined by the Union County Vehicle Use Policy.
  • This position may be subject to a fingerprint background check.
  • Per NC General Statute 153A-94.2(b ), applicants for a position of employment required to work with children in any capacity will be required to electronically submit fingerprints to the NC State Bureau of Investigation for a state and national criminal history record.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field from an accredited university and two (2) years of experience in a behavioral healthcare or school setting.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Clinical Mental Health Counselor, or Marriage & Family Therapist.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and be able to maintain a safe driving history as defined by the Union County Vehicle Use Policy.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets clinical information to pertinent team members.
  • Completes Comprehensive Clinical Assessments.
  • Provides coordination for care including referrals to needed services.
  • Provides regular and consistent outpatient counseling/therapy to individuals, and/or groups.
  • Intervenes early to assist parents, teachers, and student support staff in developing comprehensive strategies for supporting students in crisis.
  • Completes relevant paperwork in a timely and proficient manner.
  • Applies knowledge of child development.
  • Provides education and consultation on behavioral health topics to staff, students and parents in various settings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
