About The Position

UPMC’s Integrated Advanced Care Providers along with Hillman Cancer Center is looking for a Behavioral Health Therapist II. Hillman Cancer Center is internationally recognized for its leadership in the prevention, detection, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer and is the region's only comprehensive cancer center designated by the National Cancer Institute. This position offers a great opportunity to function in a dual capacity providing therapy services and social work support to network sites. The ideal candidate for this role would have knowledge of oncology resources as well as experience in providing education on appropriate community resources, financial assistance, and end of life care to patients and families. Production incentives are available. This position offers a hybrid work environment including work from home with travel to sites as needed for patient care.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Education in school counseling, or related field.
  • A copy of your graduate-level transcripts must be attached for consideration.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT) is required.
  • Two years of clinical experience diagnosing and treating behavioral and psychiatric conditions.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric evaluation and assessment process, as well as application of current version of the DSM.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Clinical Social Worker (CSW) OR Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist OR Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with oncology patients
  • Remote / telephonic patient interaction experience

Responsibilities

  • Maintain daily clinical productivity records.
  • Provide individual and group therapy in home, school, and community settings; engage families in assessment and treatment; educate patients on recovery.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings to review cases, update plans, and recommend referrals.
  • Use evidence-based treatment approaches.
  • Conduct patient assessments and document clinical decisions; adapt treatment models for service delivery.
  • Develop treatment plans addressing diverse patient needs.
  • Support regulatory and licensure preparation with leadership.
  • Manage administrative tasks (e.g., caseload, census) independently.
  • Document all clinical activities per guidelines.
  • Continuously develop clinical skills through new treatment methods.
  • Review cases and serious patient changes with supervisor and team.
  • Complete documentation same day; provide info for service authorization.
  • Mentor student interns.
  • Contribute to quality assurance and performance improvement.
  • Assess and adjust treatment plans based on changing patient needs across settings.
  • Collaborate with clinical team on service needs; refer to appropriate care levels or community resources.
