About The Position

Pine Outpatient Program (Pine OP) at UPMC Western Behavioral Health provides comprehensive outpatient mental health services for children, adolescents, and young adults ages five to twenty‑five. The program offers diagnostic assessments, medication management, and individual, family, and group therapy for a wide range of diagnoses, including anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and mood disorders. Pine OP utilizes evidence‑based treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma‑Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF‑CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and COPE. The multidisciplinary team is creative, compassionate, and dedicated to fostering a welcoming environment, supporting patients and families, and building meaningful connections that promote long‑term wellbeing.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Education in school counseling, or related field required. (Successfully completed the educational requirements as defined in practicing state's code)
  • Passed the examination required by 49.11. relating to licensure examination.
  • Must sign a license agreement and be actively working to obtain the Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW), or Licensed Family Marriage Therapist (LMFT) within 30 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of clinical experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric evaluation and assessment process, as well as application of current version of the DSM preferred.
  • Experience in diagnosing and treating behavioral and psychiatric conditions preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in program activities to ensure quality and performance.
  • Completes documentation on the same day of service and provides necessary information for service authorization.
  • Periodically reviews cases and discusses significant clinical changes with the team.
  • Assesses and updates patient needs and incorporates them into treatment plans.
  • Conducts assessments under supervision and makes clinical decisions regarding treatment and referrals.
  • Provides individual and group therapy, engages families, and educates patients on recovery.
  • Records all assessments, treatment sessions, and other patient-related work.
  • Discusses additional service needs with the clinical team and refers patients to appropriate resources.
  • Participates in regular meetings to review and update treatment plans and monitor progress.
  • Maintains daily records of clinical productivity.
  • Creates comprehensive treatment plans addressing a variety of patient needs.
  • Provides individual and family therapy to patients in the program home, school, community settings and engages families in the assessment and treatment processes when indicated.
  • Provides education to patients on recovery as appropriate.
  • Potential for up to 50%25 time, with increased support as needed, in a classroom/milieu setting providing early childhood mental health consultation to early childhood care providers.
