About The Position

KVC Missouri is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician for their Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) in Springfield, MO. This role involves providing direct care and support to youth, acting as a positive role model, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. The technician will work closely with clients, families, and the treatment team to implement treatment plans, manage crises, and document interventions. The position emphasizes a strength-based, trauma-informed approach and adherence to agency policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum 0-3 years of experience in the field
  • 1 - 3 months related experience and/or training in a related field
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook (Word, Excel, and email applications proficiency)
  • Strong customer service focus (ability to work well with children, youth, parents, adults, other professionals)
  • Excellent time management (being on time and reliable)
  • Oral and written communication skills (able to communicate and document observations and incidents)
  • Must be 21 years old to apply
  • Pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check required

Responsibilities

  • Practice conduct that displays respect for all KVC colleagues and community stakeholders regardless of age, gender identity, sexual orientations, race, religion, and ethnicity.
  • Respect all youth and treat them as individuals in accordance with their treatment plan and collaborate with the treatment team providing the best possible care.
  • Review client case histories and become familiar with their treatment plan goals, carry out, and document interventions as described in the treatment plans.
  • Treat clients, clients’ families, colleagues and constituents with respect.
  • Be a role model for the children and families in our Intensive Outpatient Program/Partial Hospitalization Program, remain professional, respectful, and calm while on duty. Role models positive behaviors and coping skills for clients, using a strength-based approach in all interactions.
  • Provide crisis intervention when necessary and use approved tools, techniques and resources available. Manage youth using de-escalation techniques from trainings like Safe Crisis Management (SCM) or UKERU, limiting the need for emergency safety interventions.
  • Complete required documentations, including phone calls, forms or reports per agency’s policy and procedures; enter documentation accurately and timely per KVC MO guidelines.
  • Assist with structured group activities by giving youth choices and welcome poor choices as “teachable moment”. Teach and promote responsible behaviors (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports – PBIS).
  • Create and maintain secure, safe, pleasant, nurturing and trauma informed environments.
  • As directed, may assist in meal preparation, provide transportation for programming, encourages recreational activities.
  • Administer medications and first aid per guidelines and polices, with support from nursing staff.
  • Keep the environment clean and orderly and in good repair, reporting concerns to supervisor or facilities staff, ensuring safety issues are addressed immediately.
  • Function within KVC policies and procedures (i.e Employee Handbook).
  • Attend meetings, mandated trainings and shift meetings. Complete all training and course work assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned according to qualification of staff and develop of programs.
