About The Position

The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) at Cottonwood, a 16-bed Residential Treatment Facility serving children and adolescent patients aged 7-18, plays a crucial role in providing an intensive residential treatment milieu as an alternative to hospitalization. The BHT is responsible for overseeing clients' safety and mental well-being, assisting with skill-building, participating in groups and social activities, and intervening in crisis situations. This role involves taking children to recreational activities and ensuring a therapeutic environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma / GED / HSE Required
• Must hold or obtain by start date, MO Class E Driver's License (Class D for IL Residents), and proof of continuous auto insurance.
• Must also meet CCC's Motor Vehicle Record standards policy and have reliable transportation.
• Must be able to work days, evenings, and overnights (for Floating BHT position).
• Must be able to work the midnight shift (for PRN position).

Responsibilities

• Provide care that promotes safety, comfort, and a therapeutic environment.
• Educate clients on daily living activities and self-care management.
• Teach functional living skills based on individual treatment plans.
• Collaborate with the treatment team to coordinate client care.
• Complete and chart client observations.
• Conduct personal belongings, room, and grounds checks.
• Ensure protective oversight and monitor clients' conditions.
• Transport clients to appointments as needed.
• Intervene in behavioral health crises, including seclusion and restraint interventions.
• Document according to clinical policies and procedures.
• Maintain certification in Pro-ACT and CPR/First Aid.
