About The Position

Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) provide compassionate, hands-on support to children and adolescents receiving behavioral health treatment. BHTs ensure patient safety, assist with daily living skills, model positive behaviors, and help youth develop healthy coping and problem-solving strategies. This role requires individuals who can remain calm under pressure, respond effectively during crises, and build positive relationships that support treatment goals and long-term success.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 20 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Current auto insurance.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain professional, calm, and solutions-focused in challenging situations.

Nice To Haves

  • One to three months of related experience and/or training in a behavioral health, human services, education, childcare, or related setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of patients.
  • Build positive relationships with youth while serving as a trusted role model.
  • Support daily living activities and encourage personal responsibility.
  • Assist patients in developing social, emotional, and behavioral skills.
  • Review treatment plans and implement assigned interventions.
  • Use de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies when needed.
  • Facilitate and support structured activities and therapeutic programming.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and positive living and learning environment.
  • Complete documentation accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Collaborate with treatment teams to ensure the highest quality of care.
  • Assist with transportation, appointments, meal preparation, and household responsibilities as needed.
  • Participate in meetings, shift transitions, training, and ongoing professional development.
