About The Position

The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) is an integral member of the treatment team, functioning as the primary conduit between client, clinical, and medical staff, working to ensure the implementation and integration of the person-centered treatment plan. Under the immediate supervision of the Behavioral Health Technician Manager, the BHT is responsible for monitoring, observing, and reporting client activities while providing structure and support of the clinical person-centered treatment plan.

Requirements

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • An ability to learn quickly, multi-task, and utilize effective communication skills, including both telephone and in-person.
  • Positive demeanor and clear understanding of professional boundaries with clients.
  • Ability to follow directives explicitly, adhere to facility policies, provide client-driven customer service, and exercise time management skills.
  • Scheduling flexibility, holiday, and weekend rotation is REQUIRED.
  • Must hold valid driver's license with reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Consistent, daily, appropriate interaction with clients while supporting implementation of individualized treatment plans.
  • Maintains clear, ethical boundaries with clients and their families
  • Ensure clients attend all individual and group treatment sessions and follow daily schedules
  • Assists and monitors client activities throughout the shift, including compliance with treatment center rules
  • Supports clients with phone use, computer time, smoke breaks, and mealtimes
  • Gathers clients for group programming.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of all client information per HIPAA guidelines
  • Demonstrates awareness of cultural sensitivity and maintains professional boundaries
  • Reports safety hazards immediately
  • Works continuously to maintain a clean, safe, and functional treatment center environment
  • Practices proper infection control, including PPE use and hand hygiene
  • Uses the EMR to accurately document all client interactions with concise, clear communication
  • Records shift notes, safety rounds, and client belongings inventory
  • Documents instances of client non-compliance
  • Follows all processes in the Behavioral Health Procedural Manual
  • Performs client admissions, including drug/alcohol screens and contraband searches
  • Assists nursing staff during medication pass times
  • Completes duties related to client discharge (graduation, administrative discharge, or AMA)
  • Attend staff meetings and training courses as directed by the supervisor.
  • Participate in ongoing performance improvement activities.
