About The Position

Agape Behavioral Center is seeking a Full-Time Behavioral Health Technician for their Residential facility in Fort Pierce, FL. The schedule for this position is Friday-Sunday, 7 PM-7 AM. The Behavioral Health Technician is a vital member of the multidisciplinary team, directly involved in providing quality care to clients. This role focuses on providing structure and support services to the clinical team treating adults with substance abuse diagnoses and/or co-occurring disorders. Key responsibilities include client supervision and ensuring client participation in services, all while adhering to established regulations, policies, and procedures. Employees are expected to exercise significant initiative and independent judgment in their duties.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of facility and housekeeping department policies and procedures.
  • Ability to use universal precautions when cleaning specific areas.
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers.
  • Ability to work independently in assigned areas.
  • One (1) year of experience as BHT in a health care facility.

Responsibilities

  • Learn company policies and procedures related to position quickly and effectively upon hire and when company policies and procedures are updated.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility to changes in the work environment.
  • Follow Infection Control Guidelines at all times.
  • Complete and forward copy of Incident Reports and any other safety / risk issues to the BHT Supervisor when involved or when witnessing an incident or safety/risk issue.
  • Monitor and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for staff and clients.
  • Assist in emergency situations as directed.
  • Conduct Waived tests as required, i.e., Urine Drug Screens, Dip Sticks, Breathalyzer, etc. (following Infectious Control protocols when handling specimens).
  • Ensure client’s rules and responsibilities are being followed throughout the day. Report noncompliance to Supervisor.
  • Direct and monitor clients.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures of the agency.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
  • Complete intakes when required.
  • Notify the Director of Operations in the event of any problems or issues with clients or staff members.
  • Understand and maintain confidentiality of client information and records.
  • Maintain supply list for assigned buildings (as requested).
  • Maintain clean environment for clients during shifts.
  • Continuously maintain compliance with the agency’s Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics to ensure all ethical and legal requirements are adhered to at all times.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures as outlines in the Employee Handbook, personnel file and internal communications.
  • Maintain agency’s Code of Conduct, Laws of Confidentiality, HIPAA rules and regulations, and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
