About The Position

Greater Boston Addiction Centers is a behavioral health treatment provider located in Needham, MA, offering partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs for individuals facing substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to actively listen without judgment
  • Ability to build rapport and trust with clients
  • Basic understanding of mental health disorders, substance use disorders, and the 12-step model
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and skilled in de-escalating conflict or agitation
  • No prior experience required
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening
  • Reliable availability for a Tuesday through Saturday schedule
  • Ability to stand, walk, and actively engage with clients throughout a shift

Nice To Haves

  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
  • Prior experience in a behavioral health, substance use treatment, or related human services setting
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) system

Responsibilities

  • Support clients through daily program activities with a nonjudgmental, empathetic approach
  • Actively listen to clients and build rapport and trust to support engagement in treatment
  • Observe and accurately document client behavior, mood, and any signs of crisis, withdrawal, or relapse
  • Maintain clear, professional documentation and charting in accordance with facility standards
  • Communicate effectively with both clients and the clinical team to support continuity of care
  • Recognize and respond calmly to mental health crises or agitation, using de-escalation techniques as needed
  • Respect and support clients from diverse backgrounds and life experiences
  • Apply a basic working knowledge of mental health and substance use disorders, including the 12-step model, in day-to-day client interactions
