SOVAH Health - Danville is a 250-bed hospital with the region's only designated Chest Pain Center & Certified Advanced Primary Stroke Center. We are an academic teaching site for residents, medical students, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and physician assistants. Sovah Danville is seeking a part-time, Behavioral Health Technician in the Behavioral Health Unit to provide services to ensure a safe environment for psychiatric patients in a locked inpatient unit setting.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- AHA BLS required.
Responsibilities
- Performs continual surveillance of behavioral health unit monitors and operates the patient-monitoring system.
- Monitors dining/day rooms, and hallways on Behavioral Health when occupied by patients to assure patient safety in the environment.
- Monitors patients for suspicious behavior indicating the possibility of self-harm.
- Reports incidents, utilizes nursing staff for concerns, discusses recent issues, and any pertinent patient details with the covering/on-coming behavioral health monitor technician.
- Recognizes patient behaviors in the dining/dayroom and hallway environment that may result in an unsafe situation.
