About The Position

The Behavioral Health Technician (Residential) at Harbor Recovery Center is responsible for assisting with the safety and security of clients and the facility. This role requires the ability to respond quickly to emergencies, knowledge of regulatory requirements, and health and safety necessities. The technician will supervise client adherence to rules and regulations, ensure the cleanliness of the facility, conduct emergency drills, document activities, and transport clients when necessary. They will also assist with client self-administration of medications, enforce client rules, and provide front office coverage. The position requires multitasking, prioritizing, and time management skills, along with adherence to all company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Proficient in interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Trained in CPR/First Aid/CPI/RADD.
  • State certified Regional Detoxification Specialist (RDS) or willing to complete certification within two months of employment.
  • Strong working knowledge of regulatory requirements as well as agency/facility regulations.
  • Understanding of recovery and acknowledgement that many pathways exist towards recovery.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Knowledge of safe vehicle operation and of seat belt and child restraint laws for moving vehicles (if working with the Specialized Women’s Services/SWS clients at the Gateway and HH HS locations).
  • Ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 25 pounds or less.
  • Manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
  • At least 21 years of age (per insurance requirements).

Nice To Haves

  • Some college is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the safety and security of clients and the facility.
  • Responding quickly to emergencies that arise with clients, visitors and/or staff.
  • Completing all required client documentation on Credible as it relates to medication calls and other duties required by this position.
  • Supervising client adherence to rules and regulations, as well as cleanliness of the facility and grounds.
  • Reporting necessary infractions or issues to the counselor and/or Director.
  • Conducting fire and other emergency drills as scheduled.
  • Documenting all activities or incidents as needed.
  • Transporting clients when necessary, including SWS children if based at the Gateway or HH HS location.
  • Securing the building by ensuring that all clients are present and accounted for.
  • Assisting with client self-administration of medications, and documentation in Credible.
  • Uploading information to client files and updating daily census, as instructed.
  • Enforcing all client rules including waking of clients and bedtimes, as well as tobacco use restrictions.
  • Front office coverage including answering the phone and door.
  • Completing all duties, paperwork, projects, as assigned by the Director.
  • Following all company policies and procedures.
  • Multitasking, prioritizing and managing time, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
