About The Position

The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) assists in assuring optimal patient care under the supervision of an RN. This role involves patient monitoring and safety, assisting with daily living activities, implementing treatment plans, crisis intervention, and documentation and communication with the care team. The position is located at Jackson Purchase Medical Center, a 107-bed acute care hospital providing a comprehensive range of services.

Requirements

• High School Diploma (or equivalent)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire
• Handle with Care certification required within 7 days of hire

Nice To Haves

• Nursing Assistant Certificate (SRNA/CNA) preferred

Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of an RN, assists in assuring optimal patient care.
• Observe patients closely, document behaviors, and ensure a safe, secure environment.
• Assist patients with hygiene, meals, routines, and basic care needs.
• Follow care plans developed by clinicians, including leading or supporting therapeutic activities.
• De-escalate situations and respond appropriately to behavioral or emotional crises.
• Record patient progress and communicate updates to nurses, therapists, and the care team.
