About The Position

This role involves two primary functions: serving as a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) and a Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Driver for Beacon Treatment Center. As a BHT, the individual will provide comprehensive support and coordination of care throughout the addiction recovery process, which may include facilitating group therapy, case management, outdoor activities, peer support, and intake. As an NEMT Driver, the individual will provide safe and timely transportation for clients to medical appointments, court hearings, and scheduled activities, ensuring punctuality, comfort, and adherence to all safety protocols and client confidentiality. The role requires strong client service abilities, situational awareness, and professionalism in a behavioral health setting.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or bachelor's degree in a field related to behavioral health; OR a bachelor's degree and at least one year of full time behavioral health work experience; OR an associate's degree and at least two years of full time behavioral health work experience; OR a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma and a combination of education in a field related to behavioral health and full time behavioral health work experience totaling at least two years; OR licensed a practical nurse, according to A.R.S Title 32, Chapter 15, with at least three years of full time behavioral health work experience; OR a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma at least four years of full time behavioral health work experience.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills.

  • Current Driver’s License required.
  • CPR certification required (or become certified within 30 days of hire).

  • Twenty-One Years or Older.
  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum Experience: One (1) year of professional driving experience, and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to operate a 15-seat passenger van.
  • Proficiency in using GPS and navigation applications.
  • Must pass a background check, pre-employment drug screening, and MVD check.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate group therapy sessions in the classroom or in the field.
  • Administer Drug Screens (UA’s, swab, and breathalyzer).
  • Search clients’ dorms, property, and individual clients.
  • Perform Case Management, Intake, Scribe, and Outdoor Recreation duties.
  • Schedule and/or lead service projects.
  • Assist with planning, scheduling, and attending outdoor and overnight activities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient progress.
  • Ensure group therapy sessions are aligned with client treatment plans.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all clients.
  • Maintain proper documentation of client progress including overall progress, body language, participation, and engagement.
  • Participate in program development and evaluation.
  • Coordinate wellness checks, doctor appointments, and other necessary services to ensure continuity of care for clients.
  • Participate in admissions processes, including intake assessments and orientation.
  • Assist clients through the discharge process, providing resources and support.
  • Document critical steps and progress within the recovery program.
  • Address the day-to-day needs of clients, offering support and ensuring their well-being.
  • Be sensitive, respectful, and personable when interacting with clients.
  • Empower clients by encouraging self-reliance and helping them develop life skills.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to regularly assess clients' progress and adjust individualized plans.
  • Safely transport clients to and from medical appointments, court hearings, and scheduled activities, ensuring punctuality and comfort.
  • Demonstrate safe vehicle operation including proper speed control, lane discipline, and defensive driving techniques.
  • Utilize GPS and local knowledge to determine the most efficient routes, adjusting for traffic conditions.
  • Provide assistance to clients entering and exiting the vehicle when appropriate.
  • Maintain a clean and well-functioning vehicle, conducting regular inspections and coordinating necessary maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate records of trips including mileage, destinations, addresses, distances, and any incidents or delays.
  • Maintain proper documentation from appointments and ensures submission according to agency policy and accurate according to daily trip log and A.A.C. R9-22-211 NEMT requirements.
  • Communicate clearly with all clients, managing interactions with tact, diplomacy, and professionalism.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries and professionalism during all client interactions.
  • Adhere to HIPAA and all federal, state, and BTC protocols protecting client rights and privacy.
  • Follow all local traffic laws and agency transportation safety policies.
  • Identify and diffuse conflicts during transport, maintaining self-control and objectivity.
  • Demonstrate understanding of emergency procedures for accidents, medical emergencies, or unsafe situations during transport.
  • Contact emergency services and follow reporting protocols as needed.
  • Understand procedures for client medical or behavioral emergencies during transport.
  • Coordinate with the client services team to confirm appointments and address special transportation needs.
