About The Position

HCA Florida North Florida Hospital is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to assist in coordinating nursing and psychiatric care in conjunction with a multidisciplinary treatment team. The role involves observing, reporting, and documenting patients’ physiological and psychological status according to hospital and unit policies and standards of care. The technician provides and documents patient-care information, assists with activities of daily living, responds to behavioral problems, and assists with crisis intervention as needed. The role also advocates for patients’ privacy and follows established reporting guidelines for significant medical errors or unanticipated outcomes that result in or could result in patient harm.

Requirements

• Six months of experience.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Fingerprinting is required.

Responsibilities

• Observe, report, and document patients’ physiological and psychological status in accordance with established hospital and unit policies, procedures, and standards of care.
• Provide and document information on patient care.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Attend to patient behavioral problems and provide assistance with crisis intervention as needed.
• Protect confidential information and advocate for patients’ right to privacy.
• Follow established guidelines for reporting significant medical errors or unanticipated outcomes that result in or could result in patient harm.
