About The Position

This position assists with assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of selected technical aspects of patient care under direct supervision of the Charge RN, Assistant Head Nurse, Nurse Manager and/or the Director, to meet the requirements of the Joint Commission and other applicable federal, state and local regulatory or accrediting agencies as well as meeting the goals and mission of the department. Provides direct and indirect care for adolescent to geriatric patients to aid meeting the patients’ needs as directed. Provides patients with activity opportunities appropriate to their ages and abilities and related to their plan for care, either individually and/or in group settings. Additional responsibilities where/when assigned: Provide skill building and activities to patients serviced to enhance patient abilities to improve quality of life to their highest feasible level Facilitate groups as coordinated by psychotherapy and nursing leaders Provide services as part of a care team assembled to ensure optimal patient care delivery under the direction of Essentia Health management and the referring physician.

Requirements

  • Completes TEAMS deescalation training within three (3) months of hire if no previous deescalation training or has not had a TEAMS training/refresher within past three calendar years.
  • BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
  • In accordance with Minnesota Rules 9530.6450 Subpart 1-B; all employees must be free of chemical use problems for at least the one year immediately preceding their hiring and must sign a statement attesting to that fact. Chemical use problems are defined as: Receiving treatment for chemical use within the period specified for the position in the staff qualification requirements. Chemical use that has a negative impact on the staff member's job performance; Chemical use that affects the credibility of treatment services with clients, referral sources, or other members of the community; and Symptoms of intoxication or withdrawal on the job.

Responsibilities

  • Support both direct and indirect care for patients ranging from adolescents to geriatrics

  • Facilitate age-appropriate individual and group activities aligned with each patient’s care plan
  • Promote a supportive and safe environment that addresses each patient’s physical, emotional, and social needs
  • Provide skill building and activities to patients serviced to enhance patient abilities to improve quality of life to their highest feasible level
  • Facilitate groups as coordinated by psychotherapy and nursing leaders
  • Provide services as part of a care team assembled to ensure optimal patient care delivery under the direction of Essentia Health management and the referring physician
