About The Position

At MercyOne, health care is more than a doctor’s visit or a place to go when medical attention is needed. The organization’s mission focuses on improving community health, including helping people stay well. MercyOne Genesis serves a 17-county bi-state region in the Quad Cities and surrounding communities of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. It is described as a two-time national Top 15 Health System and among the top 1 percent nationally for patient safety. The Behavioral Health Tech participates in safe, quality patient care as delegated by the Nurse Manager. The technician greets patients admitted to the Adult Psychiatric Behavioral Health Unit, provides unit orientation and the standard daily activity schedule, and explains behavior expectations during patients’ stays. The role leads group sessions to develop patient relationships, including daily goal setting and follow-up to track patient accomplishments. It requires establishing rapport and trust with patients and offering interventions when situations escalate. The technician may also assist with personal care and perform health monitoring activities. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position on the evening shift, 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The schedule includes every other weekend and rotating holidays.
