About The Position
Community Counseling Center (CCC) is seeking Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) to provide care to clients in a manner that promotes safety, comfort, and a therapeutic environment based on a trauma-informed approach. This role involves participating in recreational and social activities, promoting and educating clients on activities of daily living, and teaching functional living skills. BHTs will collaborate closely with the treatment team, complete client observations and charting, conduct regular checks, ensure protective oversight, and intervene in behavioral health crisis situations. Responsibilities also include distributing medications, transporting clients, and documenting according to agency standards. Specific duties may vary between adult and children's programs, with the children's program potentially including seclusion and restraint interventions. Fingerprinting will be required for this position.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED/HSE
- Must hold Valid Driver's License (Class E for Missouri or Class D for IL Residents - Obtain on start date) and current continuous auto insurance.

Responsibilities
- Provide care to clients in a manner that promotes safety, comfort, and a therapeutic environment based on a trauma informed approach.
- Participate in recreational and social activities with clients.
- Promote and educate clients regarding activities of daily living including household management (i.e., attending to bedroom, laundry, etc.) and self-care management (i.e., hygiene, grooming, medication, etc.) tasks and responsibilities.
- Teach functional living skills such as anger management techniques, impulse control, social/communication skills, relaxation skills, emotional coping skills, etc. based on the client's individual treatment plan.
- Collaborate closely with the treatment team to appropriately coordinate client care services.
- Complete and chart client observations in accordance with agency policy and procedure.
- Conduct ongoing checks; including personal belongings, room checks, and grounds checks based on agency policy and procedure.
- Ensure protective oversight of clients, monitor the condition of clients, and follow agency policy and procedure regarding medical emergencies or elopement.
- Cleaning of the facility and grounds as needed.
- Intervene in behavioral health crisis situations when needed.
- Distribute medications and document based on agency policy and procedure.
- Immediately report medication errors based on agency protocol. (only adult program)
- Responsible for transporting clients in agency and/or personal vehicle as deemed necessary and appropriate to meet program requirements.
- Document according to clinical policies and procedures, DMH, CARF, and any other federal or state program per agency standards.
- Intervene in behavioral health crisis, including Seclusion and restraint interventions. (Children's BHT only)
